METODO SIMPLIFICADO PARA LA INDICACION DE TRATAMIENTOS TOPICOS UNIDAD DE FALANGE DISTAL Y REGLA DE LA MANO

Resumen

Debido a la gran imprecisión en las prescripciones y las
instrucciones dadas a los pacientes con relación a la
aplicación de tratamientos tópicos proponemos usar la regla
de la mano (ya usada como base para obtener el porcentaje
de área corporal comprometida en pacientes quemados) para
medir el porcentaje de superficie corporal (SC) comprometida
por la patología, sabiendo que el área representa el 0,76% de la SC. Igualmente proponemos indicarle al paciente cuantas Unidades de Falange Distal (UFD) debe aplicarse para cubrir dicha área, definiéndola como la cantidad de ungüento
obtenida al presionar un tubo con un orificio de 5mm. de díametro, aplicado desde la articulación interfalángica dista) a la punta del dedo índice en su lado palmar y equivale a 0,5 gr. de ungüento.

SUMMARY
Because of the considerable lack of precision in the
prescriptions and instructions given to patients,in relation to the application of topical trealments, we propose the use of the rule of the hand. This rule is already in use as the bases to determine the percentage of the body atea involved in burn
patients. The role would be used to measure the percentage of the body surface involved in the cutaneous pathology, besed on ¡he estimation that this anea represents 0, 76% of the body surfa- l ce. Additionally, we propose that the patient should be instructed as to how many dista) phalangeal units'(dpu) should be applied to cover this area. The dpu is defined as the amount of ointment obtained when a tube with a 5 mm. opening is squeezed and the contents appliedfrom 1 the dista) interphatangeal joint to the tip of the index-finger on,the palmar surfáce; this amount represents 0.5 g of ointment.
