CROMOMICOSIS: UN CASO PRODUCIDO POR UNA CEPA NO ESPECIFICABLE DE CLADOSPORIUM

Resumen

CHROMOMYCOSIS : REPORT OF A CASE PRODUCED
BY AN ATYPICAL CLADOSPORIUM STRAIN
From a 35 year old chromomycotic lesion in a leg of a Venezuelan labourer, all life
resident of a warm and dry region, where Cladosporium carrionii is endemically present,
a monstruous dematiaceous mold has been repeatedly isolated, which does not liquefy
gelatin, grows slowly from 6° to 35°, shows aberrant morphologic characteristics
and rarely produces irregulary cladosporial structures.
Experimental chromomicotic lesions, both primary in loco and secondary along
lymphatic pathway, were originated by intradermal injection of 0,1 ml of saline suspension
of the unspecified growth.
Spontaneous lesion cured after superficial irradiation (2400-4000). Experimental
lesions cured after local thermotherapy or radiotherapy ; four secondary ones cured
spontaneously after discharging or simply disappeared.
